Install the extension
hoodat puts a source-backed card beside the people named on the page you’re reading. The test build isn’t in the Chrome Web Store yet, so it’s installed by hand.
Install
About two minutes. You’ll need Chrome or Edge on a computer.
Download the test build
The download link comes with your tester invitation. If you don’t have it, ask the person who invited you.
Unzip it somewhere you’ll keep it. Chrome loads the extension from that folder, so don’t delete it.
Turn on Developer mode
Open
chrome://extensions(oredge://extensions) and switch on Developer mode.Load the folder
Choose Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder, the one that contains
manifest.json.Pin it and reload your tabs
Pin hoodat from the puzzle-piece menu, then reload any pages that were already open.
Allow site access if asked
If the hoodat button says Site access needed, open the extension’s details, set Site access to On all sites (or allow the site you’re on), and reload the page.
Using it
- On an article, video or post, people with a hoodat profile get patches beside their name. Open one to see the relationship, its dates, the amount (or “unknown”), and the sources with their grades.
- The toolbar button lists everyone found on the page. People without a profile get Request a profile.
- Alt+Shift+H hides or shows the overlays. Escape closes an open panel.
